Ciao!

I've been in Rome now for 12 days and I've already done so much that it would take forever and a day to fill you in! So, since I'm the laziest person on this side of the equator, I'll give you a few bullet points of my adventures thus far:

- Amanda Hoffman, an amazing friend I've known since age seven, and I decided that we would be travel companions and study abroad in Rome for the first half of this summer. We arrived last Thursday and we've met some amazing people and experienced amazing things.

- During orientation, we had a little tour of Rome, and our skipper (or group leader) was amazing! Her name's Camille and she's spunky and wonderful and knows so much about the city. So she was a big help.

- The food here is OUTSTANDING. I've ordered an entire pizza for myself just about every night.. The thing is, it's good for you! Everything is homegrown and so fresh, that it's not fattening at all. I don't think I'll ever eat pizza in America again.

- I'm taking two classes: Italian Cinema and Introductory Italian. They're so interesting, and I absolutely love my Italian Cinema professor. She's so passionate. Introductory Italian is so hard. I mean, the language is so difficult to learn that I'm not sure I'll ever understand it completely. However, I'm learning little conversational tricks and phrases and they help me get around.

- We traveled to Cinque Terre last weekend and it was gorgeous. I almost couldn't believe it actually exists. Cinque Terre is a series of five villages all connected by a mountain. It runs along the ocean, and it's incredibly breathtaking. You HAVE to experience it for yourself. It's unreal.

Overall, classes are going really well. Nobody in Italy is on time, so I fit right in. The pace at which people move is ungodly slow and sometimes I wonder whether or not anyone has anywhere of importance to be. The culture is so different here, but I'm learning a lot about it and taking everything in. It's so interesting. I just don't want to miss a beat!

I'll update later and more thoroughly/in depth! Sorry to leave you hanging on how incredible these experiences are, but I've got to jet off to Italian Cinema. :)

Ciao, friends!
